Why Resilience?

People yearn for a sense of community in a fragmented and at times isolating society. In a world that is increasingly uncertain, with a host of challenges ranging across virtually all societal systems – energy, environment, education, agriculture, food, water, environmental – , the loss of community ties that used to support us through the regular ups and downs of life — growing resilience and security alongside others can provide comfort, peace of mind, and a sense of accomplishment.

Others may simply want to have fun with a group of friends who enjoy doing things together. Whatever your interests, all kinds of activities can be more fun when done as a group. Whether you like to garden, preserve food, remodel houses, build or design things or learn new skills, a Resilience Team can make it easier, more interesting and satisfying to do the things you love.

What is resilience?

Resilience is the ability to adapt to and recover from challenges, to bounce back from adversity, and it’s a skill anyone can learn. Resilience is useful in everyday life as well as during extraordinary circumstances such as natural disasters.

There are many ways to be resilient — improved health, financial security, having a backup plan for emergencies, and knowing how to do things for yourself can all improve your resilience. Learn all these skills and more with a Resilience Team – and have fun while doing it.
